DESCRIPTION Unique unrecorded and unpublished copperplate etching of a Chinese trading Junk, signed by French marine artist Louis le Breton.

He was the official illlustrator during the famous voyage 1837-1840 of the Astrolabe and Zelée under command of Jules Dumont d'Urville. The scene has been etched during this important voyage of exploration, either in Batavia harbour or in Singapore harbour.
